1 CBCS holds inaugural landing zone safety certification course
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Hunter Rhoden, 86th Operations Support Squadron air traffic controller, marshals a U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules at Chièvres Air Base, Belgium, Feb. 14, 2024. Rhoden was one of multiple Airmen to earn their landing zone safety officer certification during the multi-day course. This special experience identifier allows them to perform the LZSO function in all environments. LZSO’s are able to set up landing zones in austere locations and also land and launch aircraft from that location. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Robert L. McIlrath)
