1 CBCS holds inaugural landing zone safety certification course
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Benjamin Ward, 1st Combat Communications Squadron austere airfield operations section chief, observes the airfield shortly before a U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules was scheduled to land at Chièvres Air Base, Belgium, Feb. 14, 2024. A team of air traffic controllers, airfield operations officers, radar airfield weather systems technicians and airfield managers earned their landing zone safety officer certification on Feb. 11 – 15, 2024.
