JBSA small unmanned aerial system program reaches milestone

An R80D SKYRAIDER sUAS with a RedTail LIDAR-450 payload ascends to operating height during a drone course on June 9, 2023 at JBSA-Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Light Detection and Ranging or LIDAR is a remote sensing technology that uses light in the form of a pulsed laser to measure distances and create high-resolution three-dimensional representations of objects and environments. The JBSA Small Unmanned Aerial Systems or SUAS team is one program helping to bring an innovation mindset across the enterprise.
