JBSA small unmanned aerial system program reaches milestone
An R80D SKYRAIDER sUAS with a RedTail LIDAR-450 payload ascends to operating height during a drone course on June 9, 2023 at JBSA-Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Light Detection and Ranging or LIDAR is a remote sensing technology that uses light in the form of a pulsed laser to measure distances and create high-resolution three-dimensional representations of objects and environments. The JBSA Small Unmanned Aerial Systems or SUAS team is one program helping to bring an innovation mindset across the enterprise. This innovation will help to build smart installation basing and support agreements supporting major projects, facilities, and infrastructure worth $37 billion. (U.S. Air Force Photo by Andrew C.
