Torch Mission

TORCH, the marketing division of Air Education and Training Command’s Safety Directorate, helps promote safety awareness, mishap prevention and risk management in Air Education and Training Command, the Department of the Air Force and Department of Defense. In “The First Command,” we see Airmen and Guardians in the infancy of their careers and strive to introduce and instill a safety and risk management mindset into all they do. Our mishap prevention focus includes an emphasis on flight, occupational and weapons safety. The contents of TORCH are not necessarily the official view of, or endorsed by, the U.S. Government, the Department of Defense or the Department of the Air Force.

AETC SAFETY MISSION

Air Education and Training Command has the potential to be, and should be, ground-zero for accelerating change across the United States Air Force,” according to Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, AETC commander. “That means modernizing, transforming and codifying the equipment, systems, architectures, training and strategies foundational to training and developing every Airman.”

AETC should also be ground-zero for introducing and developing a safety and risk management mindset within our newest human weapons systems, says Col. William Phillips, AETC’s director of safety.

AETC Safety’s mission is to strive to “Protect Airmen as vital national assets through proactive mishap prevention, and fostering a risk management mindset.”
